Jaya Reed: I have a lifelong love of creative arts and have spent many years exploring and practicing my craft. Studying and experimenting with a wide range of artistic applications, I have diplomas in creative arts and a degree in graphic design. After visiting India in the 70’s I fell in love with the spirituality of its holy places. Today the transcendent beauty and power of its ancient culture is reflected in my work and I am very much influenced by the art of Orissa, Indian miniature paintings and the work of B.G. Sharma. I am also inspired by the harmony in nature and sacred geometry. The larger paintings take several months to complete and each one is developed and painted with much devotion and attention to detail. Each piece is painted with acrylics on canvas and I also sometimes incorporate other media such as gold leaf and semi-precious stones.
